Do pets / animals go to heaven?
The Bible does not directly affirm whether pets "go to heaven" like human beings. Even so, it does give principles that help understand the topic.
Both humans and animals have the "breath of life" (Genesis 2:7; Genesis 1:30; 7:15, 22). But the great difference is that the human being was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26β27), which implies a unique moral and spiritual dimension.
The Bible shows that God values animals: He created them as part of His "very good" creation (Genesis 1:31) and preserved them in the ark (Genesis 6:19). In addition, creation as a whole will be restored in some way, because "all creation" awaits being freed from corruption (Romans 8:20β21).
There are also passages that describe animals in the future kingdom (Isaiah 11:6β9; 65:25), and the Bible speaks of a "new heaven and new earth" (Revelation 21:1). That suggests there will be animals in the new creation, although it does not specify whether they will be exactly the same pets we knew.
In summary: the Bible does not give an explicit answer, but it does make clear that God is just, good, and that His final plan includes a restored creation (Romans 8:20β21).
