Going to heaven: how can I have assurance of my eternal destiny?
The Bible is clear: not everyone will go to heaven, and eternal security is not based on "being a good person," but on Jesus Christ.
The only basis of assurance: • Acts 4:12: "There is salvation in no one else..." • John 14:6: "I am the way... no one comes to the Father except through me." • John 3:36: the one who believes has life; the one who rejects remains under wrath. • 1 John 5:12: "The one who has the Son has life."
What does it mean to truly "believe"? It is not only believing God exists, but: • recognizing your need (sin), • trusting in the death and resurrection of Jesus as sufficient payment, • surrendering to Him as Lord.
John 1:12 says that those who receive Him by faith are made children of God.
