What did Jesús mean by 'I am the light of the world' (Juan 8:12)?

Jesus states that He is the source of spiritual truth, the One who guides out of the darkness of sin and deception.

The promise has a condition: "The one who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12)
