What does the Bible say about dinosaurs? Are there dinosaurs in the Bible?
The Bible does not mention the word "dinosaur," because it is a modern term. Therefore, when someone asks about dinosaurs in the Bible, they are usually entering a larger debate: how to interpret Genesis and the age of the earth.
Some Christians believe the Bible does not speak about dinosaurs directly. Others think certain biblical descriptions could refer to large creatures, especially in poetic or symbolic passages.
For example, Hebrew terms like tannín (sometimes translated as "sea monster," "serpent," or "dragon") appear in different texts (Psalm 74:13; Isaiah 27:1; Jeremiah 51:34). Leviathan is also mentioned, described as a powerful sea creature (Job 41; Psalm 104:26). And there is behemoth, a huge animal near the water, described with striking strength and size (Job 40:15–24).
However: the Bible does not confirm that these creatures are dinosaurs as imagined by modern science. Some interpret them as hippopotamus/crocodile or other animals; others believe they could be extinct creatures. In the end, the Bible does not center faith on proving dinosaurs, but on affirming that God is the Creator of everything that exists (Genesis 1:1).
